Copy trading, in plain terms.
The words this site uses, defined once. If a term here means something specific on QuantumPips, this is what it means.
Terms, defined.
- Copy trading
- Copy trading automatically mirrors the trades of an experienced trader into your own brokerage account, scaled to your settings. When they open, modify or close a position, the same happens in yours.
- Trade copier
- The software that performs the copying. A cloud trade copier runs on a server rather than on your own machine, so trades are mirrored whether or not your computer is on.
- Master account
- The account trades are copied from. It is the source: when it opens or closes a position, every account linked to it follows.
- Slave account
- An account trades are copied into. Each one carries its own risk settings, so two accounts following the same master can take different position sizes.
- Slot
- A slot is one connected trading account — master or slave — on the copier. You pay per slot per month, and you can add or remove slots at any time.
- Provider
- A trader whose account others follow on QuantumPips Social. A provider's track record is verified from real broker data rather than self-reported.
- Follower
- Someone copying a provider's trades into their own account, with their own risk settings applied.
- Prop-firm account
- A trading account funded by a proprietary trading firm rather than by you, subject to that firm's rules on risk, drawdown and how the account is accessed. QuantumPips supports prop-firm accounts.
- Symbol mapping
- Brokers name the same instrument differently — EURUSD, EURUSD.m, EURUSD-ECN. Symbol mapping translates the master's symbol into the equivalent on the follower's broker, handling suffixes and aliases, so a trade copies correctly across brokers.
- Scalper mode
- A Premium Copier setting, applied per slave account, for fast and short-term strategies.
- Dedicated IP
- A dedicated IP address and a dedicated machine are available as an option on selected plans, for traders whose prop firm requires them.
